Sexual and Reproductive Health inc. HIV/AIDS

Home Sexual and Reproductive Health inc. HIV/AIDS

DORA – Departement of Sexual and Reproductive Health inc. HIV/AIDS. DORA exists because so many people are living with HIV and AIDS yet very few know the facts about the aforementioned disease. DORA is engaged in the field of sexual and reproductive health inc. HIV/AIDS, and many other reproductive issue such as sexually transmitted disease, gender issues, and sex education for teenager. We often cooperate with organizations whose goals are similar to ours e.g., UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund), National AIDS Prevention Commission – KPA (Komisi Penanggulangan AIDS Nasional), currently collaborating with IKAMABI (Ikatan Kemahasiswaan Bidan Indonesia) in the execution of a project related to maternal health, and DORA MSCIA have been built a Communitas Development called KOPHA (Komunitas Peduli HIV/AIDS) that included many high school student from Malang.

DORA has just decided to focus on 4 main areas within the field of sexual and reproductive health there are Comprehensive Sexuality Education, Violence against Women, Maternal Health, and Stigma & Discrimination. And of course, a major part of our work is focused on HIV/AIDS and its prevention. We tackle this topic through our World AIDS Day Campaigns, our peer education programs, and making sure all of our members are up to date on the latest developments in the fight against HIV. DORA has more emphasis in education-based activities as their valued principle: “The only way of fighting AIDS is through prevention and the only way of prevention is through education”.

    GOALS:

      • To improve awareness and knowledge of the community about reproductive health
      • To decrease negative stigma and discrimination to people with HIV/AIDS
      • To facilitate Indonesian medical student‘s activity in reproductive health including AIDS
      • To provide opportunities for medical students to be involved in a real work concerning reproductive health including AIDS
    • To create programs (of sexual and reproductive health including AIDS) that fits with Indonesia’s current conditions and needs.

This year, DORA has 2 main projects. There are BACK TO 90’s as our participation to celebrate World Aids Day; and THE SECRETS which is a to raise awareness about Cyber Violence and Sexual Harassment and in collaboration with DORP
