May Meeting is an annual national meeting held by Center for Indonesian Medical Students’ Activities (CIMSA) whose aim is to focus on the regeneration of its managements. This year’s May Meeting took place in Yogyakarta with Christian University of Duta Wacana as an organizing committee. All representatives of MSCIA from different universities, including University of Brawijaya Malang, were very enthusiastic in attending the event since the host of May Meeting itself, Yogyakarta, is not only reachable but also widely popular destination among them.
On Thursday morning, 18 May 2017, all the delegates of MSCIA UB departed from Malang Kota Baru station at 08.25 a.m. by Malioboro Express train. At around 03:35 p.m., the delegates finally arrived at Yogyakarta Tugu Station and directly welcomed by the committee. As soon as arriving at the venue (i.e., Merapi Merbabu Hotel), the event began with welcoming party session and then followed by dinner. After having welcoming party and dinner, the event continued with a plenary session which is known as the presentations of those who run for the officials of CIMSA. The first MSCIA candidate presentation was delivered by Izdihar Rahmadinda as National Officer on Sexual and Reproductive Health Inc. HIV / AIDS CIMSA.
On the next day, the event went on as per usual starting with breakfast and then followed by a training session. All the delegates were instructed to head to each training classroom provided by the committee. Having done the training program, a parallel session was conducted afterward. In this session, some other candidates based on their own departments and positions also delivered presentations. Another important session was grand lecture which then continued with a plenary session. Here, there were several of the MSCIA UB’s candidates who gave presentations namely Audi Yudhasmara as a President of CIMSA, Arizal Novrianto as a Human Resource and Development Director of CIMSA, and Rifqi Syarif R. as a Liaison Officer to Non-Government Organizations of CIMSA.
Furthermore, there was a slightly different thing on this year’s May Meeting, what was it? The answer is a joint session which means that each of the members of CIMSA’s standing committee had a chance to collaborate in giving trainings. The joint session was divided into three big groups consisting of SCORA-SCORE, SCOPE-SCOPH, SCOME-SCORP.
On Saturday, the event went well as the same as the previous ones. There was a long-awaited agenda named Project Fair which was designed to facilitate some of the CIMSA’s locals in promoting their projects. After that, the event continued with a plenary session and a break.
On Sunday, 21 May 2017, which was the last day of the meeting, the delegates were ready to take part in closing events. After having a breakfast, the committee kicked off the event with a farewell party. The theme of the farewell party itself was “La La Land” which required all the delegates to dress in colorful costumes. Soon after that, the delegates did a social program by going around to some historical icons of Yogyakarta city until afternoon. At around 06.00 p.m., all the delegates were escorted back to Yogyakarta Tugu station. We (the delegates of MSCIA UB) finally went home safely. It was truly fun and unforgettable moments for us. Thank you.
