SOSPRO 2025: Strengthening Clinical Competence for the Future of Healthcare
To address the rising challenge faced by medical students in preparing for the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), MSCIA FK UB successfully held SOSPRO (Socialization and Preparation of OSCE), an empowering two-day offline event aimed at first-year students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya.
Held on May 17-18, 2025, SOSPRO was designed to improve students’ understanding of OSCE mechanisms and clinical competencies required by the Indonesian Doctor Competency Standards (SKDI). The event began with a podcast pre-event titled Maskapai DOME and culminated in interactive lectures and full-scale OSCE simulations that mirrored the real examination setting.
Day 1 focused on theoretical foundations. Students were introduced to OSCE essentials, SKDI modules, and received valuable tips and tricks. They engaged in small working groups (SWGs) covering key subjects like Basic Medical Science and Pharmacology. Additionally, a tour of the OSCE stations provided first-hand experience of the testing environment. Day 2 was dedicated to practical application through OSCE simulations, divided into four waves of participants. Each student rotated through six structured stations designed to test various clinical skills under time pressure, exactly like the actual OSCE. Feedback sessions with facilitators enabled students to reflect on their performance and understand areas for improvement.
Through this activity, SOSPRO directly supported CIMSA’s focus on Human Resources for Health, especially in enhancing learning facilities and teaching medical skills. It also aligned with CIMSA’s strategic pillars: Empowering Medical Students, Improving Nation’s Health, and Adopting Evidence into Innovation. The results were significant: a post-test average score above 70, full attendance of 80 students, and 80% passing the OSCE simulation with at least a C grade. These metrics reflect improved readiness and confidence among participants to face one of the most challenging assessments in their academic journey.
SOSPRO 2025 stands as a model of proactive medical education, not just preparing students for exams, but equipping them to become competent, compassionate doctors for the future.
